Are you wondering why you should join IAAP? There are a host of reasons why you should join the premier professional organization for administrative and office professionals. They include:

  • Networking: Our regular chapter meetings provide you with the opportunity to meet other professionals on a one-on-one basis and give you a point of comparison and commonality. Besides networking with other administrative professionals, you will also have the opportunity to meet our speakers, who are generally experts in their fields. If you attend larger, national IAAP events, you'll connect with peers from virtually every type of business or service, small office or large corporation, from GenX'ers to seasoned professionals, in almost any geographic area. You'll have many opportunities to develop close-knit relationships with colleagues who can help to answer questions and find solutions to problems you face on the job.
  • Education: In addition to what you will learn at chapter meetings, IAAP provides administrative professionals with a wealth of information on how to supercharge your performance and marketability. IAAP Headquarters offers member-discounts on over 250 books, tapes, and other self-study materials. Use these resources to further your personal and professional development and qualify for the CEU (Continuing Education Unit) and recertification points.
  • Certification: Become certified in your chosen profession and be recognized as a top-level office administrator. IAAP’s certification program is the most widely recognized standard of excellence in the world. IAAP members receive special discounts on certification study materials and resources. For more information about professional certification through IAAP, visit the certification section of the IAAP Web site, www.iaap-hq.org.
  • Challenges: Membership gives you a safe forum for you to spread your wings on new and challenging activities. Whether it is public speaking, writing documents that you would not normally produce (i.e., Web documents, presentations), planning for large meetings, fund raising or other chapter duties, you are invited to try your hand. We'll even be grateful (unlike certain supervisors we've all encountered).
  • It's A Bargain! The costs for joining IAAP are very reasonable when compared with membership rates for other professional organizations. Listed below are the membership dues for a Professional Membership, including IAAP International, the New York State Division, and the New York City Chapter:
    • International: $58.00
    • Division: $10.00
    • Chapter: $20.00
    • Processing Fee: $15.00
    • Total: $103.00
Please note that these rates are for first-time members. Renewal rates are reduced by $15.00, unless you allow your membership to lapse in which case the processing fee would remain in effect. You will be sent two billing reminders during the last three months of your membership.
  • Fun: Have we forgotten about that? No, we're trying to make the monthly chapter meetings and our publications educational and enjoyable. Each year, we hold our Administrative Professionals Week® celebration, and this past year we have held a National Boss's Day celebration and a Chinese New Year celebration. We want you to party on!
